Garden City Village Votes to Abolish All Paid Positions in the Garden City Fire Department
The Garden City Board of Trustees adopted a resolution on July 25, 2018 abolishing and discontinuing all of the competitive class positions in the Garden City Fire Department (i.e. the paid firefighters), effective at 12:01a.m. on August 27, 2018. This resolution is subject to a permissive referendum as required by Article 9 of the New York Village Law.
